The Reader's Journal

The Reader’s Journal also plays an important role in the Junior Great Books program; these journals provide a place for students to record their ideas about the stories we read and discuss.  Because asking questions is such an important part of understanding what one is reading, students use Reader’s Journals to record their initial questions and thoughts about a story.  After a second reading of the story, students respond to interpretive questions through expository writing, creative writing, and artistic interpretations.
