Eastminster School's participation in the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program

The State of Georgia has created an opportunity for taxpayers to redirect a portion of their Georgia state income taxes to improve educational opportunities in Georgia. Eastminster School is partnering with the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, a student scholarship organization established through House Bill 1133 in 2008.

In 2011, nearly 6,000 Georgia taxpayers contributed $12,500,000 to GOAL, Georgia’s leading student scholarship organization.  Eastminster received $100,612 of those tax re-directed dollars and awarded 34 scholarships.

Our partnership with Georgia GOAL allows you to redirect a portion of your Georgia tax liability to Eastminster School - up to $2,500 for married couples filing jointly, $1,250 for married filing separately, and $1,000 for individual filers. Please note that redirecting your tax obligation is not considered a gift.

Taxpayers who redirect their state income tax dollars to GOAL receive a tax credit for their designated amount and/or a charitable deduction for federal tax purposes, provided they itemize. This redirection may be made at any time during 2012 by writing your check and following the process as directed at www.goalscholarship.org/; however, you will not receive your tax benefit until you file your 2012 Georgia state taxes in 2013.

C-Corporations may contribute up to 75% of their Georgia tax liability to Georgia GOAL on behalf of Eastminster School. Please inform your contacts at Georgia corporations about this effortless way to support our school. If you have a suggestion of a company we should contact, please let us know.

This program provides opportunities for more students to receive an education at Eastminster School. That’s why it is important that alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends of Eastminster participate in this program. Monies from GOAL will be available for qualifying students in the 2012-2013 academic year.
