Georgia GOAL Scholarships
Dear Friends of Eastminster, May 16, 2011
Today we kick off an ambitious four week campaign to expand enrollment at Eastminster School. Our goal is to attract academically qualified students using Georgia GOAL scholarships, but we need your help. We earnestly ask everyone in our Eastminster community to participate in our Georgia GOAL Campaign in order to meet our goal of attracting 40 new hard working students.
As a taxpayer to the State of Georgia, you have the unique opportunity to redirect a portion of your state income tax liability to Eastminster School. Married couples filing jointly may direct up to $2,500 to Eastminster, individuals may direct up to $1,000, and C Corporations may direct up to 75% of their entire state income tax liability to our school through the Georgia GOAL Scholarship program. Eastminster School can then use this money for scholarships for well deserving families who want their children to benefit from our rigorous liberal arts education.
The best news is it costs you absolutely nothing to participate.
Every dollar directed to Georgia GOAL counts as payment toward your state income taxes. If you owe $5,000 in Georgia state income tax and direct $2,500 to Georgia GOAL, you only owe the state $2,500. The big difference is Eastminster gains $2,500 for scholarships. The potential for Eastminster School cannot be overstated. If every Eastminster family, including all of our staff and board members, redirects their maximum allowable portion to Georgia GOAL, we will have more than a quarter of a million dollars available to attract new highly motivated students. Increased enrollment means a brighter future for every Eastminster student because a full student body provides better teacher salaries and expanded academic, athletic, and cultural programs.
Participating takes four easy steps using the forms available on our web site under the Support Eastminster tab:
- 1. Fill out the Georgia GOAL Authorization Form
- 2. Sign page two of the Georgia Form IT-QEE TP1
- 3. Make your check payable to Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program
- 4. Return everything to Eastminster School before the end of the school year.
Eastminster parent volunteers will be contacting you soon to answer any questions about the program and to help you complete the forms. They can even show you how to spread out contributions to Georgia GOAL over six months using the Eastminster School Georgia GOAL Patron Fund. Roy Alexander is also available at 404-513-9914 to offer his assistance and to invite grandparents, colleagues, and employers to participate as well.
Time is critical because the state legislature limited the program to the first $50 million in contributions, and that cap is quickly approaching. Please act today so Eastminster School can take full advantage of this extraordinary opportunity.
