Statement on Religion

Eastminster School is a nondenominational, college-preparatory school that seeks common ground with believers of diverse religions.  The school recognizes the dignity and worth of each individual, demanding high standards of moral and ethical behavior consistent with our Judeo-Christian heritage, while at the same time cultivating a school community that welcomes students of all ethnic backgrounds and religious traditions.

Eastminster advocates a God-centered life, one that entreats God’s will and guidance in all of life’s challenges.  The school advocates the pursuit of virtues that arise from divine inspiration, including compassion for our fellow man; self-discipline in desire and pleasure; a strong work ethic toward noble endeavor; respect for the value of all human life; stewardship of the universe in which we live; responsibility for one’s actions; courage to face adversity with principle; perseverance in the search of truth; honesty in self reflection and in dealings with one another; loyalty to worthy friends and institutions; and abiding faith in God’s goodness and wisdom.Eastminster students learn about God and the guiding virtues God has revealed in the Old and New Testaments.  In addition, students study classical literature and selections from other world religions to learn perennial truths which transcend race, culture, ethnicity, and religion.  Whether taught as lessons in weekly Chapel, as morals in academic coursework, or as behavior modeled by the faculty and administration, students abide in a setting that elevates God’s role in their lives.

Eastminster School neither favors nor discriminates on the basis of race, gender, religion, color, creed, or nationality with respect to admissions or hiring decisions.
