2011-2014

Following what was believed to be a successful execution of the 2007-2010 Strategic Plan, the Board of Directors authorized Dr. Pascavage to lead the development of a new Strategic Plan to organize the efforts of the school through the implementation of its Upper School program and the graduating of its first class: the Class of 2014. To that end, a call was made to interested parents, Board members, and faculty to participate in the process, and twenty-one members of the Eastminster community responded.

The Strategic Planning Committee felt that the seven broad Opportunity Statements used in the school’s initial Strategic Plan were still appropriate, and chose to focus its efforts on developing new “action items” related to the Opportunity Statements. One additional Opportunity Statement was drafted to allow for the inclusion of feedback from the SAIS-SACS Visiting Committee into the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan. Action items for that Opportunity Statement would be developed by the school administration following the receipt of the Visiting Committee Report.

What follows are the Opportunity Statements with Action Steps for the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan.

Opportunity #1: School Culture

Eastminster School has the opportunity to continue creating a unique school culture which reflects the spirit of the school's motto as well as both the mission and vision statements.

  • SP1114.1.1 The school will foster and develop a culture which reflects values consistent with the mission of the school and expectations of the parent body.
  • SP1114.1.2 We will promote healthy, life-long habits including diet and exercise.
  • SP1114.1.3 We will continue to promote professional development opportunities for faculty to model life-long learning.
  • SP1114.1.4 We will offer opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate leadership skills to prepare them for college and beyond.

Opportunity #2: Marketing and Branding

Eastminster School has the opportunity to continue positively distinguishing itself from other school (both public and independent) in the East Metro Atlanta area through creative and well-directed marketing, branding, and recruitment efforts.

  • SP1114.2.1 We will update and revise our website, making sure that earned accreditations and appropriate memberships are prominently displayed.
  • SP1114.2.2 We will focus our advertising resources on those marketing efforts which have been demonstrated to be the most effective at attracting new families to the school.
  • SP1114.2.3 We will use the resources of our school community to identify events which may provide an opportunity for promotion of the school.
  • SP1114.2.4 We will explore opportunities for cost-effective advertising within the community which will increase visibility of the school.

Opportunity #3: Liberal Arts Education

Eastminster School has the opportunity to continue making a lifetime impact on students by providing a liberal arts education which includes emphasis on the study of Western Civilization; the Canon of Core Media; free-market economics; democratic principles of governance and civic participation; cultural diversity; and religious tolerance.

  • SP1114.3.1 We will continue to revise and improve the curriculum to meet the changing needs of the student population.
  • SP1114.3.2 We will provide individualized learning opportunities to meet the needs of each student.
  • SP1114.3.3 We will use the Canon of Core Media to promote the awareness of universal themes.
  • SP1114.3.4 We will create opportunities for students to experience a more global community through travel and exchange programs.
  • SP1114.3.5 The school will continue to seek to develop a partnership program with key colleges and universities (including Emory University, Georgia State University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology) to provide opportunities for curricular enhancement.
  • SP1114.3.6 We will develop an Upper School program to serve students in grades 9-12 which uniquely features the liberal arts and which serves as a capstone experience in the fulfillment of the school's mission.
