Kindergarten
Terri Hill, also Lower School Director
I am 40 years old and have been teaching for 19 years. I have taught Kindergarten for 15 years, first grade for 1 year, K-5 reading and writing literacy for 3 years. I have worked for the Georgia State Department of Education for 3 years as a literacy specialist.
I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education Pre-K-5th grade certified. Since then, I have added a Teacher Support Specialist, Reading and Writing Literacy Specialist, and Intel Specialist to my certificate.
I am very active in sports and was on a full athletic scholarship in Cross Country and Track while attending Georgia State University.
My parents,and 4 brothers and sisters all live in Georgia and we are a very close family. I am married to Dan Hill and have 3 step children, 5 step-grandchildren, and 2 dogs. My husband was born and raised in Conyers and owns Still Lumber Co. here in town. I on the other hand traveled like the Military growing up and lived in 12 different states by the time I was 15 years old.
My hobbies and interests are teaching young children, college sports, Ga. Tech football/basketball, reading, working out at the gym, traveling, being a grandma, spending time with my brothers and sisters/mom,dad, loving my dogs.
I am very excited about being part of Eastminster School and plan on finishing out my teaching career making our school the very best!
Christy Dye
I am 30 years old and have been teaching for six years. I taught Kindergarten one year and first grade five years. I have been married for six years to Stephen. We moved from Augusta, GA where we lived for 24 years. Stephen's job transferred us to the Atlanta area in 2001, and we have been here ever since.
I attended college at Augusta State University where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. Since then, I have completed my Master's Degree, become Gifted Certified, and have added a Teacher Support Specialist to my certificate. My husband and I just received a wonderful blessing October 25, 2005 when our baby son, Tripp was born. My hobbies are going to GA football games, shopping, and teaching.
I am very excited to join the team at East Minister!
1st Grade
Katie O'Loughlin
I am 36 years old. I have been teaching for six years. I have taught kindergarten for five years and first grade for one year. I graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
I am married to Corey and we have two children, Justin and Meghan. We attend St. Pius X Catholic Church. We have two dogs, four hamsters, and two turtles.
I enjoy watching my children participate in soccer. I also enjoy watching my daughter participate in gymnastics competitions. I like traveling, reading, walking, and spending time with my family.
I have enjoyed my first year here at Eastminster and am looking forward to many more.
LaTrice Lopez
After years of working in Human Resources, I decided to pursue teaching. After graduating from Mercer University with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, I began my career in the DeKalb County School System where I taught kindergarten, first grade, and first grade readiness.
After four years, I made the decision to come to Rockdale County where I taught fifth grade for two years. Currently I am enrolled in the University of Georgia’s L-5 Add-on Leadership Certification Program. I love teaching and look forward to what each new day will bring.
2nd Grade
Susan Foster
I attended Heritage High School here in Rockdale County and went on to Berry College to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2001. I returned to the Rockdale County system and over the past five years have taught kindergarten, first and second grades. In 2005, I received my Masters in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I continue to work on professional development and I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of Eastminster School.
Spanish
Amy Applebee
I graduated from Berry College in 1995, and finished her Master's Degree at University of Georgia in 1999. I taught Spanish for 3 years at Rockdale County High School, 1 year at South Gwinnett High School, 4 years at Grayson High School.
I grew up in Conyers. My husband's name is Walter; he works for Georgia-Pacific Corporation. We have two children, Anna who is 4, and Andrew who is 2. We love going to the beach, skiing, and scuba diving.
Music
Lee Turner
My home town is Lexington, GA. I attended UGA and received a Degree in Music Education. My teaching experience has been in my hometown, Florida and 18 years at Pine Street Elementary in Conyers for a total of 35 years!
I have two children, Jake who is 29 and Kerrie who is 25. My husband, Guy, owns Turner Contractors. We have a cat named Rambo who has complete command of the house. My interests are crocheting, church choir, being a soloist for various events, watching old movies -especially musicals, reading, the Braves, the DAWGS and BEING RETIRED!
I absolutely love Eastminster and the children. I feel so blessed that I have been allowed this privilege.
Art
Tara Mosley
Tara Mosley is originally from Des Moines, Iowa, but moved to Athens in 1994 to get her Studio Art Degree from the University of Georgia. There she met her husband Les Mosley Jr. who has taught art at Honey Creek Elementary for seven years and will begin teaching Art at Heritage High School in the fall of 2006.
Tara has taught arts and crafts part time at Rockdale County's Academic Camp, the Honey Creek After School Enrichment Program, and at the Montessori of Covington for several years while also spending time at home with her three children Sebastian (7), Sophie (5), and Emma (1). Tara especially enjoys collage, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, fabric arts, sculpture, and is gaining interest in computer and video art.
The Mosey's occasionally paint murals or make theatrical props and backdrops for local musicals. Tara plans to continue taking classes to get a Masters in Art Education over the next few years, while also making her own artwork, and promoting many of the fine arts programs throughout the community.
