Lower School Academic Goals

  1. Kindergarten students will read well by the end of the first semester of school.
  2. Students will leave the Lower School having read, critiqued, and debated the Canon of Core Literature, becoming among the best writers of their independent school peers.
  3. Students will leave the Lower School having mastered basic concepts of geometry and algebra; basic physical concepts of light, magnetism, and mechanics; basic chemical concepts of the atom, molecule, and compounds; and the biological concepts of DNA, the cell, organs, and organ systems.
  4. Students will leave the Lower School with a basic understanding of constitutional government, the history of America, and the fundamentals of individual rights and self-government.
  5. Students will leave the Lower School scoring in the 90th percentile of independent schools on a range of standardized tests.
