Lower School
Academic Goals
- Kindergarten students will read well by the end of the first semester
of school.
- Students will leave the Lower School having read, critiqued, and
debated the Canon of Core Literature, becoming among the best writers
of their independent school peers.
- Students will leave the Lower School having mastered basic concepts
of geometry and algebra; basic physical concepts of light, magnetism,
and mechanics; basic chemical concepts of the atom, molecule, and compounds;
and the biological concepts of DNA, the cell, organs, and organ systems.
- Students will leave the Lower School with a basic understanding of
constitutional government, the history of America, and the fundamentals
of individual rights and self-government.
- Students will leave the Lower School scoring in the 90th percentile
of independent schools on a range of standardized tests.
