Middle School Academic Goals
Eighth graders will leave the Middle School having read, critiqued, and debated the canon of literature, becoming among the best writers of their independent school peers.  Students will be well prepared to succeed in Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition.
Eighth graders will leave the Middle School having mastered algebra I, basic concepts of geometry, and the content of an advanced physical science curriculum.  Students will be well prepared to succeed in Advanced Placement Calculus AB and BC, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Eighth graders will leave the Middle School with a solid foundation in Spanish or Latin in preparation for Advanced Placement foreign language study in the Upper School.
Eighth graders will leave the Middle School knowing the geography of the world, the history of colonial America, the basic tenets of republican government, and a thorough knowledge of Georgia history.  Students will be well prepared to succeed in Advanced Placement European History and U.S. History.  Other Upper School humanities AP opportunities include Economics, Political Science, and Government.
Eighth graders will leave the Middle School scoring in the 90th percentile of independent schools on a range of standardized tests.
